ARTIST STATEMENT

These are challenging times. A slower and more reflective pace has replaced the fast track of the last 10 years. I have felt a need to become more grounded, connecting more deeply with family and close friends.

My new work compares the light sources in master paintings created by the intense study of sunlight and reflection with light in contemporary work manipulated, so effectively, by halogen and digital enhancements. Visually, I hope my paintings take traditional subject matter and transform it to contemporary vision. In doing so, I seek to create a bridge to follow the light into the future.
